NATURE WALKS, HIDDEN TRAILS AND STARRY SKIES

We love sharing the nearby walking routes that wind through limestone dales, peaceful nature reserves and historic paths perfect for anything from a quick stroll to a full day out. When evening falls, we often pause to look up at the star-filled sky, and it’s a real treat to spot barn owls drifting silently across the fields under the moonlight. Take advantage of the hidden trails to see starry skies, we're in a designated dark sky area.

CYCLING ADVENTURES FOR EVERY STYLE AND PACE

We’re lucky to be near wonderful cycling options, whether you prefer off-road tracks along old railway trails like the Monsal, Tissington and High Peak, or leisurely rides on quiet country roads. From gentle family routes to longer adventures, we enjoy guiding guests towards the scenic paths to discover rolling countryside views and hidden corners.

Bike hire is also available less than a mile away at Parsley Hay, on the Tissington and High Peak trails. These are safe, traffic-free trails on former railway lines. Oldhams Wood Campsite is also nearby, while guesthouses in the area provide other options for those exploring the Peak District.

HISTORIC HOUSES, GARDENS AND TIMELESS HERITAGE

We always recommend exploring the area’s historic treasures, from grand stately homes and landscaped gardens to medieval halls rich with stories. Places like Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House never fail to impress with their elegance and history. We believe these timeless sites add something truly special to any countryside escape.

Nicky is the best host you could wish for. I dare anyone who stays here to try and find a speck of dirt... its absolutely spotless and I don't know how she manages this, as it's on a farm. The room was huge and very comfortable, with the added bonus of having your own lounge. The whole place is beautifully decorated, to the highest standard. I only stayed one night and can honestly say that I never wanted to leave. The arbor low stone are less than a 5 minute walk away and are not to be missed. They are Derbyshire's Stonehenge. The views from this property are incredible. We sat outside until dark because we didn't want to miss a minute of them. The spread Nicky does for breakfast is incredible and again not to be missed. I only wish we could rate higher than a 5. I can't understand the poor reviews I have seen as clearly they didn't stay at this property as this place is amazing. We will be back.

Thanks Nicky, from Caroline & Louis
